Charming doesn't even begin to describe that line. It's a great line. Something I'd expect Humphrey Bogart to say. Like a scene out of old Hollywood with a 21st century backdrop. What made it even better was that the "top" I was wearing is a very old, very faded navy T-shirt and, for once, instead of a tank top that can never properly support my D-cups, I had on a bra. Pretty one, too. From Victoria's Secret...ooh la la!
I usually wear the T for working out, and it's a favorite, so gets used quite often. "Nice" isn't a word that comes to mind when I see it. But it was the only clean T-shirt I had and I was already an hour late for the concert. Or, so I thought. Apparently, I was at exactly the right place at exactly the right time.
I'd actually contemplated not going to the concert at all. But, I had the tickets and a group of us were headed there together. No one minded my lateness; I was the designated driver. It just gave them more time to get ready...also known as, getting their party on.
Parking was supposed to be a nightmare because of traffic and construction, except, I was wearing what I now consider my "lucky" T-shirt. As I tentatively drove by a parking lot right across the street from the venue that had a big "Closed!" sign across the entrance, the guy standing guard saw me and waved me in. For free.
Like I said, lucky T-shirt....
Shaggy was up when we finally got inside. He's a natural performer and was attempting to engage the mostly-white crowd in "the pit" closest to the stage. The problem? The concert was being held in a baseball stadium; the open air sucked up the screams of fans sitting all over. My crew and I were chilling in seats with a perfect view of the stage, hooked up by a stadium-security guy who saw me walking in, thanks to my "lucky" T-shirt. He personally walked us over to the seats and came back multiple times to check on me, I mean, us.
Yup. That's one lucky T-shirt!
Charlie Puth came on and everyone went crazy. His voice is so beautiful that the entire stadium began singing:
"And when you're weak, I'll be strong. I'm gonna keep, holding on. So don't you worry, it won't be long. Darlin', when you feel like hope is gone, just run into my arms. I'm only one call away. I'll be there to save the day...Superman got nothin' on me. I'm only one call away!"
It was a great moment and a great song. One I used to accompany a blog essay entitled #Roar in January 2016. Seems like no matter how loud my Leo-self did just that, no one was answering. Actually, on the inside, I'm a Scorpio. That's where the moon was at the moment of my birth. Probably why every adult male Pisces within soul-range has heard me. Luckily, I only need one. And, he happened to like my smile. Oh, and my "top," too.
As I danced to The Chain Smokers hit, "Don't Let Me Down," in what was now a totally dark stadium outside of the light show that flashed to both the beat of the music, as well as Daya's hauntingly beautiful voice, I realized that I was finally looking forward, not back. My past, however, was in the back of my mind...but that's where it belongs. Behind all the good things that I filled my time with in between. Behind all the bright, light future opportunities shining ahead of me. One of which I happen to be talking to right now!
There are still past-debts to be paid. One or two negatives yet to be cleared. But that's no longer my focus, or, fear; it's become more like background noise. Barely audible. Mainly because I have a world full of tomorrows ahead. Things like tasting absinthe in Colorado, jumping out of a plane in Seattle, flying over an Alaskan glacier in a helicopter, touring Le Tour Eiffel, trekking through Nepal, sampling Singapore, Coachella 2017(!), but not before gazing over Toronto's skyline against the backdrop of the setting sun...and maybe, just maybe, a little Northern Ireland in the mix. That's where I'd like to be on March 17, 2018 anyway. Ferrying to Islay. Seeing St. Patrick. Climbing Cave Hill.
So many adventures yet ahead. Perhaps even one more chance at a second chance....
You'll never forget what's behind you. You might turn around once in a while, revisit the things that uplift you, remember a moment of joy or peace or both. But keep putting one foot in front of the other, no matter what. Because, one day, someone might tell you you have a "very nice smile." And if you stop moving forward, you'll miss it.

#TwinFlame #1111 Post-script: There I am in the "lucky T-shirt" below with one of my friends at the concert. Believe it or not, she and I are 23 years apart in age. I have no Botox or fillers. Nor have I had any surgeries. We're both wearing make-up and have highlights in our hair but otherwise, all-natural beauties. And yes, my boobs are completely real. This same picture was posted in real time on Instagram using the Sierra filter.
