I used to think all it took was pointed action
Desire
And the right decisions
Goals were easy to achieve
If you were willing to work for them
Now, I understand it's less about effort
Or even our choices
And more about politics
(which is just a fancy word for "fate")
Proximity is merely a convenient sales' pitch
Plebeian in nature
Pedestrian, even
But still somehow relevant

But relationships require two people
To say "yes"
And not just to a fancy dress
To bills, unmade beds and 20-hour days

Not to mention the pay
In the end
We all end anyway
