Have you ever heard out-takes from recordings of radio-commercials or for TV? They're hysterical--usually because the reader gets so frustrated and loses their cool. There weren't many of those for me--lots of laughter though. And that's when I realized, when I laugh, I sometimes sound like Santa Claus....
The experience was fun and at one point, Robert, the owner and today, my sound engineer, was playing back what I had read in the booth before moving on. I tell you, my voice can get really throaty and after a particular playback, I said, "Gee, maybe I should be a voice actor for porn...." Lots of laughter ensued! Let's just say my days as a stand up comic in Boston (and yes, some of my re-recordings were to correct that oh-so endearing Boston-accent) haven't exactly ended.
Shout out to Gerry and Patty at 2Vine for a great lunch--and to the Little Bakery for some outstanding chocolate chip cookies! It was exactly what this doctor ordered after a few hours in the studio....
Of course, as with everything I do, I owe a debt of gratitude to my sweetheart for sitting next to me and going over the lines, finding the mistakes, and just being there to bounce things off of. And, you make a great lunch companion, too! ;)
Blackdog Studios is a really great place to record--and I FINALLY got to meet the infamous "Blackdog" the studios are named for, Zoe. The sweetest black lab you'll ever meet--we were fast friends.
That's the latest and greatest for now--slowly, slowly, we turn the seasonal corner to spring; slowly, slowly, we turn the page in our lives.
Until next time, dear readers!
