The birthday signifies the completion of the age you "turn" on that day. So, if you turn 25 this year, your birthday signifies not the beginning of your 25th year, but it's end. I always found that interesting with "milestone" birthdays like 30, 40 or 50...even 100! The celebration should take place the year BEFORE by all rights. My solution: It's really not a birth-DAY so much as a birth-YEAR.
We treat ourselves better on our birthdays. Our expectations are HIGHER than normal, and not just for ourselves, for everyone else. If you expect to be treated better, chances are, you will be. If you expect more for yourself every day of the year, not just one, you will meet more of your goals. You will receive "gifts" everyday. Everyone tends to use New Years as the starting point for change. But why not use your birthday as a day to "carry-over" those high expectations throughout the rest of the year. New Years is an abstract; YOU are not. Have faith in yourself. Give yourself your birthday "due" every single day. It's not a celebration of age--it's a celebration of survival. We humans tend to take that for granted.
There are no guarantees. You can have 99 birthdays, but that does not guarantee you 99 more, does it? Use your birthday as a way to prioritize what you want for you--give yourself the gift of "birthday" expectations every day of the year. You will find that your life will improve. And, you will be happier.
What better gift could any of us receive???
Until next time, dearest readers....
