From the August 2011 article by Housel:
As audiences continue to take in X-Men: First Class this summer, few will
understand the Jewish heritage in X-Men’s past, present and future…because,
yes, more X-Men films are on the horizon. And though a seemingly unlikely place
to find Jewish struggle, that’s where the comic book industry began. Whether
you’re a fan of superhero-escapism or not, comic books are a strong part of
Jewish history. One we should be proud of.

From June 8, 2010 Huffington Post Interview by Tom Morris:
"The vampires of today, like Stephenie Meyer's vegetarian vamps who can live in the sunlight or L Jane Smith's characters who can do the same, make being one of the undead consequence-free, or at least free of the more awkward consequences of old. Dracula and older vampire counterparts, like Lestat du Lioncourt from Anne Rice's 1976 novel and the 1994 film adaptation starring Tom Cruise as Lestat, show a darker side to their immortal life that today's audiences have been spared." --Rebecca Housel

From a review of Superheroes & Philosophy edited by Tom Morris and Matt Morris (Open Court, 2006):
“Rebecca Housel in terms of philosophy trumps the previous chapters by juxtaposing the names X-Men and Kohlberg. In this chapter, Housel very smoothly merges movie X-Men with comic book X-Men to examine the differences between Xavier's mutants and Magneto's mutants. It's not as simple as saying one is evil and the other is good. Housel breaks down each mutant to their psychological components and then shows the flaws in both heroes and villains and that how they deal with the flaws in themselves determines their actions.”

Rebecca Housel is an author/editor listed in the Directory of American Poets and Writers [1] and sponsored member of the National Association of Science Writers [2] by Prevention magazine's Rebecca Skloot and environmental writer, Sharon Levy. Housel is known for her prose in popular culture[3], philosophy, film, medical humanities, and young adult/middle grade fiction. Housel is a feminist scholar and social theorist influenced by Jean Baudrillard, Judith Butler, Hannah Arendt, and Joseph Campbell. Housel speaks multiple languages, including French and Hebrew. Her literary influences show a deep and compassionate global perspective with references to the Bhagavad Gita, Upanishads, Tao Te Ching, Sir Thomas More's Utopia, Sun Tzu's Art of War, Ayn Rand, Albert Einstein's Relativity and Special Relativity, Brian Greene's Super String Theory, Paulo Coelho, Flannery O'Connor, Margaret Atwood, and Stephen King.

From an article by David Downs (who did not interview me; the quotes he uses are from one of my chapters in Twilight & Philosophy):
"(One of) Rebecca Housel's chapter(s), "The Real Danger: Fact vs. Fiction For The Girl Audience," retells the Twilight series the way a newspaper would: that of an 18 year-old girl first brainwashed by a blood-drinking cult and then killed by her 100 year-old husband and former stalker.Housel—a victim of domestic violence herself—goes on to write that young girls wishing for their Edward don't understand that 76 percent of women killed by their intimate partners were also stalked by them. According to Housel, one-third of all women murdered in the US in 2005—the year Twilight was published—were killed by an intimate partner. The film will make some young women buy into the idea that there are "good" abusive relationships, she states.
"Looking for Edward will only lead to black eyes, rape, torture and possibly even death," she concludes. "Take it from a real-life Bella who found a 'real' Edward—you don't want that."

From my review of the book Undead Subculture:
“Dust off those whips and chains! Editors Goodlad and Bibby manage to take a marginalized area of popular culture and turn it into something everyone can and will relate to. Using international experts from the academy, as well as the ‘real world,’ Goth: Undead Subculture speaks to a broad, though educated, audience. From masochistic fashion to Buffy the Vampire Slayer, this powerful text illuminates the historical and theoretical impact of the Gothic subculture, taking readers on a ride through Tim Burton films, Poppy Z. Brite novels and everything in between. No stone is left unturned as the text offers a multitude of visual examples throughout, my favorite being a CD cover of Gen from the Genitorturers clad in leather biker-gear while piercing her tongue with some kind of skewer. Ouch.”—Rebecca Housel, Journal of Popular Culture
