Today's numerology is interesting; you have April=4 + the date=6 + the decade=10; essentially, you have a double ten. Ten is a symbol of rebirth in many numerological circles, and it's interesting that this so closely follows Jesus' resurrection and essential rebirth in heaven...or, a double rebirth. Today is also day 42 of 49 where in Judeo-Kaballistic tradition, individuals go through ten different "sephirot" or enumerations that form the "Tree of Life" or "Eitz Chayim" in Hebrew. The tenth sephirah is called "Malchut" in Hebrew which means "Kingship." This "Kingship" is a representation of what Joseph Campbell might call the "Master of Two Worlds," where a hero successfully completes many trials and has a transformation of consciousness, transcending the innate duality in the human condition to find the underlying singularity--which many believe to be God. God is considered the root of the "Tree of Life" in many Occidental mythologies.
Whatever you believe, today is an auspicious day. Tomorrow is going to lend itself to understanding, knowledge and communication, numerologically speaking. You'll have to let me know how that goes.... ;)
Another philosopher, American-born and Harvard-educated, Charles Sanders Peirce (pronounced Purse), believed in a kind of numerology, too. He believed there were universal patterns displayed in threes; each category, which Peirce called "Firstness, "Secondness" and "Thirdness," had it's own set of indicators and meanings. Trilogies, trifectas, trinities, and triads dominate our culture with things like the Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost, the Three Musketeers, the Three Amigos...well, okay, I'm getting a little silly there but you catch my general drift...3 is a powerful number. Take two triangle, one over the other and you have a "Mogen David" or "Shield of David"; King David's shield was more than just a shield--it was a six-sided weapon that helped him bring down a giant. It was probably used to ward off evil; as the six-sided star is a symbol used to protect from demons in certain traditions. In Kaballistic tradition, the six-sided star in 3-D becomes nine-sided--and this has cosmic power. Kaballistic scholars weren't the only ones who thought so either. Remember the Vedas I referred to earlier? Veda means "knowledge" in Sanskrit--and some of that knowledge is conveyed through what are referred to as "Mandalas" which means in Sanskit, "cosmic order." Sanskrit, by the way, is the oldest language known to man and was also used as the basis for early computer language. Many mandalas depict six-sided stars in dimensional formats that expand to nine-sided stars. Kali, the Hindu goddess of both life and death, is often shown with a nine-sided star. In Hebrew, when you double nine, it means life--literally, Every Hebrew letter is assigned a numeric value so the word for life "Chai," is made up of two Hebrew letters, one representing "8" and another representing "10."
By the way, "8" in Chinese numerology means sudden fortune or prosperity; interestingly, in typical numerology, the number "8" means power and/or sacrifice. The connection there is obvious--sudden fortune brings power, and power often comes with personal sacrifice--I'm talking about sacrificing your morals or beliefs to acheive a particular goal...like prosperity. "888" means triple prosperity in Chinese numerology (hence the choice of the summer 2008 Olympics in China being on August 8th)--it's also the famed "Jesus number. And of course, we know that "10" means both rebirth and Kingship--which tend to go hand in hand with prosperity, power and sadly, sacrifice. And ALL of those traits are branches on the Tree of (human) Life.
So start looking for those numerical patterns in your life--if you find six numbers that seem to repeat often for you, subscribe to the lottery u. You may get lucky, in fact, the math of numerology promises that eventually, YOU WILL.
Good luck! And however rebirth relates to you today, may understanding, knowledge and communication be yours tomorrow....
